From Canoe Regatta Hall of Fame:

There will be a noticeable “local touch” during the Second Annual Hall of Fame Induction, as the General Clinton Canoe Regatta honors eight paddlers and contributors to its Class of 2013 during the 51st Annual Regatta Weekend May 24-27 in Bainbridge.

The Hall of Fame Induction dinner and ceremony will be held Saturday evening, May 25 at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge according to officials from the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce, organizers of the Canoe Regatta since its inception in 1963. Details will be announced at a later date.

The 2012 Canoe Regatta Hall of Fame ceremony was considered the cornerstone event of the 50th annual Regatta, with a capacity crowd on hand, plus nine of ten living inductees out of 12 total in attendance. By design, there are fewer inductees this year. The eight honorees are divided into four individual paddlers, one set of paddling brothers, and three contributors, known as the “pit crew”.

Local names among the canoeists will share the limelight with nationally known paddlers this year. They include former Regatta champions Al Camp and Jeff Shultis of Otego as well as the LaFever Brothers, Andy (deceased) Don and Jim. They join record setting Bruce Barton of Homer Michigan and Priscilla Reinertsen of New Hampshire.

Comprising the “Pit Crew” for their extensive Regatta contributions are: Richard “Dick”
Davies, official Regatta historian, of Bainbridge and two life-long Bainbridge residents now deceased in Lloyd Sipple and Dr. Ken Benson.
