From NYS Police:
The New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and Vestal Police Department announce the arrest of a Binghamton resident for drug possession after a search warrant at his residence on Thursday, March 7, 2013 that resulted in the seizure of a large amount of heroin, an assault weapon and cash.
State police arrested BARRON C. JONES, 34, of 111 West End Avenue, apartment 2, in the City of Binghamton for three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (B Felonies), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (D Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence (E Felony) and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana (Violation)
Jones was arrested when State and Vestal police executed a search warrant on Jones and his vehicle in the CVS parking lot on Main Street, Johnson City, as well as his residence at 111 West End Ave, Binghamton.
During the search warrant, approximately three and one-half (3 ½) ounces of heroin was seized. Most of the heroin was in loose form, waiting to be packaged, while 127 packets ready for sale were also recovered. Also located during the search was a Ruger .22 caliber assault rifle, drug paraphernalia to include scales, cutting agents, and packaging material; as well as approximately one-half (1/2) ounce of marihuana and $1,100 in cash.
Depending on how the bulk heroin was cut and packaged, the estimated street-value of the seized heroin was between $50,000 and $100,000. The investigation spanned three months and focused on heroin sales in the Broome County area.
JONES was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail. Further charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
