From UHS:

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the nation. Until recently, the treatment options for stroke were very limited, and had to be administered within 3 hours of stroke symptom onset. UHS is proud to be the region's only hospital to offer the latest treatment for stroke, expanding the window of treatment to 12 hours of stroke symptom onset.

Join us at a free Mended Hearts support group meeting on Monday, March 25 when three UHS experts on stroke will be the guest speakers. Yahia Lodi, M.D., Director, UHS Comprehensive Stroke Program; Varun Reddy, M.D., Fellow, Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology; and Prakash Ramanathan, UHS Special Projects Director, will focus their remarks on stroke prevention, the signs and symptoms of someone having a stroke, and the cutting-edge treatment options that UHS offers its patients.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m., with the free presentation following at 7, on Picciano 4, Room 5ABC, at UHS Wilson Medical Center. Stop in. Registration is not required.

Mended Hearts offers hope and educates patients about cardiovascular health, empowering them as they manage a heart-healthy lifestyle. Mended Hearts meetings are free and open to the public. For more information visit www.uhs.net.
