From El Rancho De Paz:
El Rancho De Paz, a faith-based day and residential summer camp in Owego, N.Y., invites the community to come to its “Celebrate the Future!” Gala and support the future of the area youth.
“We want our supporters to see our new vision of the future, and see how we’re honoring our rich history of instilling values and character in our area’s youth while moving ahead with exciting new plans for our organization,” said executive director Duane Blasdel.
The special event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at The McKinley, Huron Campus, 1701 North St. in Endicott. The evening of fun and fellowship for families includes dinner, door prizes, entertainment by DJ Peter Boris and an auction to support the camp.
Major announcements will also be made at the event, concerning exciting new program changes and news that will help propel the camp into the next phase of its history.
“We want to continue to build on the rich, 60-year history of El Rancho De Paz and continue to offer a full slate of wholesome, enriching summer camp activities for children ages 8-15,” said Blasdel. “That being said, we’re constantly looking for ways to improve the camp experience.”
The camp is hoping to expand its residential camp offerings, and is hoping to be able to offer a greater range of financial aid to children hoping to attend camp, but whose families may not be able to afford fees.
Capital campaigns for the year include an expansion of the camp’s kitchen facilities, which will allow for expanded food service capabilities and more food offerings for campers.
Also, the camp directors want to be able to offer more scholarships and financial aid to campers –last year, families were awarded $16,000 of financial aid based on need.
“We want all parents who wish to send their children to one of our camp sessions to be able to do so,” Blasdel said. “We’re hoping all of our supporters will come to our event and “Celebrate the Future” with us!”
