From Broome Community College:
Broome Community College President Dr. Kevin Drumm today announced the appointment of two new members to the college’s Board of Trustees, Nancy LaBare and Anthony Paniccia, PE, JD.
“It’s wonderful to have two new Trustee members who have a deep connection and appreciation for Broome Community College,” said Trustee Chairman Tim Grippen. “Both Anthony and Nancy compliment a very well rounded Board and we are all grateful to them for serving as Trustees, and becoming staunch advocates for the College, its students, faculty and staff. They will join a Board who is continuing the tradition of working to make Broome the best option for students to not only receive a quality education, but start out on a path towards success in life and career.”
“We are so fortunate to have 2 new Trustees with not only a breadth of knowledge and expertise but further possess great prior knowledge of the college,” said President Kevin Drumm. “Both add to an existing accomplished, credentialed group of governance leaders. Both Anthony, as an alum, and Nancy, as a former employee, are very familiar with the needs of the College and as such can offer more insightful perspectives right out of the gate. I’m excited to welcome Nancy and Anthony and look forward to working with them on the next chapter of Broome’s growth and development in moving the county forward.”
Anthony Paniccia is the President and CEO of Delta Engineers, Architects, & Land Surveyors, P.C., and oversees all operations of the company. Anthony earned his Juris Doctor from the Lincoln Law School of San Jose, his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University, and his Associate in Science from Broome Community College.
“I’m honored to be part of the Broome Community College Board of Trustees,” said Trustee Anthony Paniccia. “As a BCC graduate I think we have two wonderful colleges here in Broome County and I think we need to reach out to many of the local graduates and have them continue to be involved in the local community as they are the next generation of leaders. I just think there’s so much potential at Broome and the College is a springboard for students to move on and excel in their careers.”
Nancy LaBare is a former Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and former Counselor at Broome Community College. Nancy retired in April 2011. Nancy has a Master of Science in Counselor Education from the SUNY Oneonta, an MBA from Binghamton University and BS in Industrial Technology from Binghamton University. Nancy is also a former Councilwoman from the Town of Union.
“I think it’s exciting because I’ll be working in a very different capacity as a Trustee, and it’s a great opportunity to make and shape policy and play a role in items such as vision and strategic directions to make sure the College continues to head in the right direction into the future,” said LaBare. “It’s an opportunity to make a big impact. Broome is a phenomenal school and I’ve seen so many people go to Broome and I want to just continue to work to make it the best option for generations of students.”
Anthony Paniccia is replacing former Trustee Robert Moppert, who passed away in 2011. Nancy LaBare replaces former Trustee Joyce Majewski, whose term expired June 30, 2011. Both appointments were made by Governor Cuomo. Mr. Paniccia's appointment will expire June 30, 2013, as he is filling the remainder of Mr. Bob Moppert's term. Mrs. LaBare's appointment will expire on June 30, 2018.
