Holiday Shows Highlight Binghamton’s Two-Day First Friday & First Saturday Art Walk - DECEMBER 4-5


Celebrating the holiday season in unique, artful ways highlight the December 4-5 First Friday and First Saturday Art Walk in downtown Binghamton, NY. Be sure to visit the many venues hosting holiday-themed shows, featuring fine art and crafts, Festival of Trees and charity auction, readings of Christmas stories, decorated mansion tours and exhibits, mead/honey wine tasting, holiday music, caroling and more!

Holiday shows on Artists Row on State St., Binghamton, between Henry and Lewis Streets, include Anam Cara Art Gallery (204 State St.), Cooperative Gallery 213 (213 State St.), the giddybird (221 State St.) and Orazio Salati Studio & Gallery I & II (205 State St., 2nd Fl.) as well as at E. L. Downey Artist Studio (33 Court St., 2nd Fl.), and The Gallery at Lackawanna Station (45 Lewis St.).

clude: *2nd Annual Festival of Trees and Charity Auction at Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. (19 Chenango St., Press Building/Professional Towers), Dec. 4, 5-7, auction at 6; *Readings of Christmas stories by Judy McMahon’s “The Hungry Ear” at Know Theatre (74 Carroll St.) on Dec. 4, 6-7; *Free tours of Phelps Mansion Museum (191 Court St.), decorated Victorian-style on Dec. 4, 5:30-8:30; *Home for the Holidays 2009 at Roberson Museum (30 Front St.); and *Mead/Honey Wine Tasting by Magpie Meadery of Afton at Imagicka (Corner of Gorgeous Washington/Hawley) on Dec. 4, 6-9, and Dec. 5, 11-5.

Some venues featuring holiday music include: Christmas caroling by Jackson Baptist Church Praise Team at Orion Beauty & Balance (118 Gorgeous Washington St.) on Dec. 4, 6-9 and Dec. 5., 12-5; Parlor City Boy’s Chorus at Southern Tier Health Link (45 Lewis St.) on Dec. 4 at 7; and Lukus Wells, piano/vocals, at Lost Dog Cafe (222 Water St.), on Dec. 5 from 1-3.

This First Friday/Saturday Art Walk, presented by the Gorgeous Washington Street Association (GWSA), and sponsored by M&T Bank, will feature 43 locations in Binghamton, downtown, southside, westside and eastside, open from
6-9 PM on December 4, and 11 AM to 5 PM on December 5.

The First Friday/Saturday schedule is subject to change without notice.

There are free BC Transit Trolley rides only on Friday, Dec. 4, which start at Phelps Mansion Museum (191 Court St.) from 6-9 and one guided, historic tour at 6 with Joan Sprague from Preservation Association (PAST).
Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala is underwriting the BC Transit Trolley during this First Friday.
