From Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo's Office:

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) announced today that the Assembly approved a 2013-14 state budget proposal.

“I am pleased that the Assembly recommends a number of changes to the governor’s budget that reflect concerns expressed by my constituents,” said Lupardo. “Among other things, the Assembly proposal increases support for education, restores critical funding to services for New York's most vulnerable citizens including the developmentally disabled, and increases aid for community colleges and municipalities.”

The Assembly also proposes various changes to formula calculations for K-12 Foundation Aid, including the elimination of the Income Wealth Index minimum, which will help high needs school districts throughout the state, including those in the Southern Tier.

“Reforming the way the state distributes school aid was my top budget priority, so that more assistance would flow to high need districts," said Assemblywoman Lupardo. “Eliminating the Income Wealth Index minimum in Foundation Aid would allow more resources to be directed to the school districts in our community at a time when they need it the most.”
