Morning and Afternoon puppet shows of “Just So Stories” at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage on Saturday, October 17, 2009!

Johnson City, NY- How did the elephant get his trunk? How did the camel get his hump? Find out at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage with “Just So Stories” performed by Robert Rogers Puppet Company. “Just So Stories” is the first of 4 children’s shows in the Story Time Theatre Series sponsored by Books with Senator Libous in partnership with Morrisville State College and Bates-Troy Quality Dry Cleaners. “Just So Stories” will be presented one day only, Saturday, October 17, at two convenient times before and after lunch. Shows are at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m and are one hour long.

“Just So Stories” is based on the works of Rudyard Kipling, best known as the author of the Jungle Book, who also wrote stories about the elephant and its trunk, the leopard and its spots and how the camel got its hump. Robert Rogers Puppet Company, located in Castle Creek, brings these stories to life on stage with music and beautiful puppets.

Robert Rogers Puppet Company is a première professional touring repertory puppet theatre established in 1980. Since then, it has presented a wide –ranging array of plays throughout the United States and around the world. Specializing in plays for young people, the troupe has created and utilize hundreds of beautifully crafted string, hand and rod puppets.

“We are excited to open the Story Time Theatre Series this year with such a fun and memorable show. The “Just So Stories” are universal and fun for families to read and enjoy together. Using puppets and music to interpret the stories is a great way to introduce children to the wonderful world of live performance. It is a visual delight and is also quite amusing.”, says Goodwill Theatre Executive Director, Naima Kradjian. “One of the goals of the Story Time Theatre Series is to encourage family reading time as well as introducing live performance. This year we will offer a discount for audience members who pre-purchase the entire four show series. The Story Time Series includes, “Just So Stories, “Harry the Dirty Dog”, “ Jigsaw Jones Class Clown” and “Red Riding Hood”. All heavily incorporate music and the shows are fabulous. We have been careful to keep the prices affordable while offering professional touring shows that really pack a wallop in our intimate environment,” adds Kradjian.

“Just So Stores” performs one day only, October 17 at 11:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Reservations are highly encouraged. Tickets, if still available, will be sold at the door one hour before show time. All major credit cards are accepted.
