Racial Justice Empowerment Group

Binghamton, NY, November 2, 2008- Please come with us on a journey to understand the definition of racism, share your story, your experience and assist in the empowerment of the Greater Binghamton community to eliminate racism. This empowerment group will be especially important as we reflect on the results of the Presidential Election.

The Racial Justice Empowerment Group will take place Tuesday, November 10, 4 to 8 p.m., YWCA. This event is free to the community and dinner will be served. If you are interested in attending please save your seat by contacting to Becky Krise, (607) 772-0340, ext. 237 or bkrise@ywcaofbinghamton.com

The YWCA supports policies that contribute to the elimination of racism. This includes but is not limited to policies that eliminate racial profiling, increase immigrant rights, retain and strengthen affirmative action, reduce hate crimes and result in increased education on racism and its elimination.

The YWCA is home to programs which empower women and eliminate racism in the Binghamton community. These programs include residential programs for homeless women and children, the Young Wonders Early Childhood Center, ENCOREplus Breast and Cervical Health Program and Aquatics programming. For community members that would like more information on the aforementioned programs call Carole Coppens, Executive Director 772-0340, at ext.227.
