From Maine-Endwell Schools:

The Maine-Endwell School District is now accepting applications for its 2013-14 Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. Eligible children must be a resident of the district and be four-years-old on or before Dec. 1 of the year they are enrolled in UPK.

Maine-Endwell UPK sites are Maine Memorial Elementary, Main Street, Maine; Future Faces Childcare-Learning Center, Hooper Road, Endwell; and Endwell Nursery School, Watson Boulevard, Endwell. Maine Memorial and Future Faces offer morning or afternoon sessions; Endwell Nursery School offers a morning session. Each UPK session is 2 1/2 hours long. All sites are available to eligible participants from both Maine and Endwell.

An application can be obtained on the district Web site www.me.stier.org, and at Maine Memorial Elementary School, Main Street, Maine, and Homer Brink Elementary, Briar Lane, Endwell. The deadline for applications is April 8.

If the number of applications exceed the available openings, New York State requires that the district use a random selection process, similar to a lottery system. We anticipate the selection process will be completed by May 15.

The Maine-Endwell UPK program is funded by a New York State UPK base grant. The program provides a free, high quality pre-kindergarten opportunity to children living within the school district.

For more information about the UPK program at Maine-Endwell Schools, call Greg Asfoury, Maine-Endwell UPK director, 786-8244.
