From Binghamton City School District:

Please join the Binghamton City School District’s fifth-grade students at 9 a.m. April 11 in the Binghamton High School Helen Foley Theatre to celebrate the life and work of our distinguished graduate Rod Serling.

This very special 90-minute assembly will feature Rod Serling’s daughter, Anne Serling-Sutton, Brian Frey, a proclamation from Mayor Ryan, and a screening of student-produced short films inspired by the work of Rod Serling.

Over the past few months, the Challenge Enrichment Program introduced fifth-grade students to Rod Serling's series, The Twilight Zone. The fifth-graders grew to appreciate not just the artistry of this series, but the important messages Serling expressed about freedom, civic responsibility, and tolerance.

Thanks to the Rod Serling Video Festival and the Rod Serling School of the Arts, Rod Serling Day will be an opportunity for all fifth-graders to learn a little bit more about Rod Serling from his family, participate in personal inquiry extend their classroom experiences, and view creative expressions and contemporary videos inspired by his work.

Mayor Ryan will begin the event by proclaiming April 11th Rod Serling Day.
