Owego, NY – The Food Bank of the Southern Tier announces a Mobile Food Pantry distribution on Wednesday,
November 18th from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the Owego Fire Department, located at 87 North Avenue, Owego, NY.
The Food Bank will distribute free food and grocery products to neighbors in need.
The Owego Fire Department will also be presenting the Food Bank of the Southern Tier with a monetary
donation at the distribution. The Fire Department recently held their annual banquet and plans to donate half of
the funds that were raised. Photo and interview opportunities will be available with representatives from the
Owego Fire Department and hunger-relief professionals from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
“The Village of Owego has teamed up with the Owego Fire Department and Tioga Opportunities to bring the
Mobile Food Pantry to Owego during the winter months. Because of the cooperation among these groups, the
Mobile Food Pantry will be held sheltered from the elements during the winter months,” said Melody Patterson,
spokesperson from Tioga Opportunities. “Thank you to all involved in making this happen for the people of
Owego and the surrounding areas. The Mobile Food Pantry has helped so many people that have found
themselves in unfortunate circumstances and we are proud to be a part of this helping hand,” added Patterson.
Low to moderate income families and individuals are invited to participate in the Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry
distribution. The Mobile Food Pantry is a converted beverage truck used to deliver fresh produce, dairy products,
and other food and grocery products directly to people in need. Those attending the distribution are asked to
please bring their own bags and/or boxes to transport goods home.
