From U-E Schools:

All four U-E elementary schools have received bronze level awards from the US Department of Agriculture as part of its HealthierUS School Challenge.
Ann G. McGuinness, Charles F. Johnson, George F. Johnson, and Thomas J. Watson are part of the three percent of 101,000 schools in the nation that will receive a HealthierUS status this year. Each school will receive a plaque, a banner, and a $500 check in recognition of their efforts, which will be presented by U-E Food Service staff members to the U-E Board of Education at 6:30 p.m. on March 25 in the U-E District Office Boardroom.
The challenge is a key component of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative to end childhood obesity within a generation. Schools participating in the challenge voluntarily adopt USDA standards for food they serve at their schools, agree to provide nutrition education and provide opportunities for physical activity.
