Boy Scout Troop 152 from Kattelville will hold their monthly Chicken BBQ at 9 a.m. until all chicken is sold out. The location for the Chicken BBQ is on Rt. 12A, where the troop will be set up in the parking lot of “The Brass Lantern” tavern.  The same great chicken and salads everyone loves will be available.  This BBQ is to help send our scouts to the 2013 Jamboree. Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd on 356 Conklin Avenue will host a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Mardi Gras Celebration from 5 - 7 p.m.  Pancakes, sausage, and homemade applesauce will be served. There will be music, face-painting, mask-making, puppets, and a parade. The event will close with prayer and a solemn burning of last year's palms in preparation for Ash Wednesday. Participants in the grades 5th and 6th Grade Orchestra, 7th-9th Grade Chorus, and 10th-12th Grade Band were chosen based upon audition and teacher recommendation.  The festival will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25.  Students will rehearse on both days and the festival will close on Saturday February 25, 2012 with a 3 p.m. public performance to be held in the Anderson Center at Binghamton University. The guest conductors for this festival are: 5th and 6th Grade Orchestra- Susan Hoffman, 7th-9th Grade Chorus- Jewell Grifith, 10th-12th Grade Band- Justin Jay Mertz.  Tickets are available at the door at the following prices: Adult -$5; Child-$4; Senior-$4; Maximum family cost-$15.

The Goodwill Theatre presents "A Little Potato and Hard to Peel" at 7 p.m. in the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage.  David Harrell’s life has been about overcoming obstacles.  He was born without a right hand.  This is not a show about living with a disability, because Harrell never had to learn to live without his hand. He relates near the top of the show that his compensation for his anatomy started from the earliest age, learning to crawl with the aid of devices manufactured for him at a big, exciting, and scary hospital.   The journey, in which Harrell learns to deal with bullying, is what's most important in this show.  For more information on David Harrell: www.davidharrellonline.com.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students.  Reservations, and information on all shows, are available by calling the Goodwill Theatre Box Office at (607) 772-2404, ext. 1. The family of local Vestal native Barbara Simmons Soyka invite you to attend a pasta dinner fundraiser in her honor from 2 to 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows School Gymnasium on 801 Main Street in Vestal. Barbara is in her second year fighting Stage IV Leiomyo-sarcoma, a very rare cancer.  A local Scout troop will serve spaghetti and meat-balls while supporters have chances to win raffle baskets and prizes donated by local vendors and organizations including, tickets to see the Binghamton Senators and B-Mets, sports memorabilia, gifts, Lottery Tickets (You Never Know), a much more.  Tickets will be sold at the door: Adults/Teens are $10 per person; Children age 6-12 are $5, and under age 5 are free. Binghamton University will offer area residents an opportunity to learn more about the campus and what it has to offer from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Center Court of the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.  Displays will highlight areas such as Admissions, the Division of Research, the Small Business Development Center and many others. The day's event will include hands-on science and art activities for kids, along with dance and music performances by various student groups.  Door prize drawings will be held throughout the afternoon.

UE Softball Casino Night at the Endicott Elks Club from 7 to 11 p.m.  Tickets are $8 in advance OR $10 at the door.  Includes great food, beer, soda and wine.

Dana Stockton has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer—Granulocytic Sarcoma. He will be receiving continuous treatment at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  This benefit is to raise money to help offset medical expenses, travel expenses and any expenses the family may encounter over the next few months.  It will be held at the Holiday Inn Arena from 2 - 6 p.m.  Tickets:  Individual $15, Student $5, Family $25.  Ticket will include Beer, Wine, Soda, Pizza, Wings and Cookies. Cash bar will be available.  $100 Raffle Tickets are available with CASH Prizes.  Raffles, Baskets and other items will be on hand to help raise money for the family.
