In order for WIVT and WBGH to be delivered to your home, we negotiate agreements for the rights to carry our stations with video service providers like MTC Cable. WIVT and WBGH have agreements in place with all of the major video providers in our area.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach an agreement with MTC Cable for its continued carriage of WIVT and WBGH - even though terms being offered are similar to those which allowed us to reach a deal with many other service providers in our area. If a deal is not reached by midnight on December 31, MTC Cable subscribers will lose access to WIVT and WBGH.
Q: Why have we not reached an agreement with MTC Cable?
A: We cannot speak for MTC Cable. But here is what our viewers should know: WIVT and WBGH are committed to reaching fair, market-based agreements with all the video service providers in our area. Our track record proves it. We have never had a service disruption with a major distributor. The terms we are discussing with MTC Cable are along the same lines as those which allowed us to reach a deal with other service providers.
Q: If WIVT and WBGH are off the MTC Cable programming lineup, how do I get WIVT and WBGH programming?
A: The good news is that you have choices. First, WIVT and WBGH are available on other video service providers in our area including DISH Network (call 1-888-882-DISH), DirecTV (call 1-800-370-3587) and Time Warner Cable. And you can always get WIVT and WBGH free over-the-air.
To access WIVT and WBGH free, over-the-air, you will need to purchase an antenna that is suitable for your location. For best results, an outdoor antenna or an indoor antenna close to a window will work best. Q: Why am I losing access to a channel that I'm paying for just because two companies can't reach a deal?
A: We do not believe customers should be disrupted by these discussions. After all, you pay your bill to MTC Cable every month. You deserve the full set of channels you are paying for. That is why we are working hard to reach a fair, market-based deal with MTC Cable based on similar terms to the deals we have with the other providers in our area.
