Could Rochester be home to the 2024 Summer Olympics?
According to the New York Times, Rochester is one of 35 cities being considered by the U.S. Olympic Committee. But city officials say thanks but no thanks. Reportedly, Rochester Mayor Tom Richards says at this time city finances are in no position to build the facilities or book the thousands of hotel rooms needed. It will cost an estimated ten million dollars just to put a bid together.
The last American city to host an Olympics was Salt Lake City in 2002.
