It’s a new week ahead and weather conditions will be a touch on the early summer-side of the scale. A moist flow of air will arrive to the northeast straight out of the Gulf region. Expect our air to feel a touch muggy with humid conditions continuing through the early and middle week. Temperatures will also be summer-like as numbers climb towards 80 degrees or better.

All of the extra moisture in our air, and a close proximity of weather fronts, will lead to some chances for showers and thunderstorms. Any chances for showers will be limited Monday to mostly the late afternoon or evening hours as a cold front tracks north of the New York State Thruway. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase quite a bit Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. Heavier showers may result, with possibly some severe weather through Wednesday afternoon. The greatest threat from any severe storm may be intense rainfall and gusty winds.

Looking out through the second half of this week cooler air will begin to filter into the region. Drier weather will return Thursday afternoon as a cold front drifts further east towards the Atlantic coastline. Sun will return, but air will be less humid and cooler.

The up and coming Memorial Day weekend will feature sunshine, but temperatures will be somewhat below normal. Saturday highs may range 64-68 degrees, with Sunday barely hitting into the lower 70s. Memorial Day currently looks dry and milder as numbers are forecast towards the middle 70s.
