Warm and muggy conditions have carried on into the middle week. Temperatures well above average combined with humid conditions have lead to quite a bit of discomfort for many neighbors. It’s expected to be this warm during July, but not often during May. Cooler changes are coming soon to provide some relief for the region.

Areas of showers and thunderstorms will continue off-and-on through the late day and tonight. A few storms may produce some heavy downpours, gusty wind, or hail. Overall, this activity will begin to settle into the overnight period.

Cooler changes will start to evolve through Thursday’s forecast outlook. A cool front will start zeroing in across central N.Y.S., and Pennsylvania through Thursday. Showers and rumbles of thunder are expected for the duration of the day with limited chances for any sun. Highs will be down into the middle 70s, but weather conditions will remain muggy.

Friday through the coming Memorial Day weekend much cooler air will overwhelm the northeast. High pressure sliding south and southeast from Canada will usher drier weather and less humid air our way. Temperatures will be significantly cooler Friday into the lower 60s. Middle to upper 60s, with breezes is forecast into the weekend. Mixed skies will give way to sun through Monday (Memorial Day) and temperatures will rise towards the middle 70s.
