Chris Brown is still scared of the public reaction to his assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna. He's convinced most people want to see him in jail.
In February, Brown was taken into police custody after biting and punching the star following a pre-Grammy awards party.
He was sentenced to five years probation, ordered to attend anger management classes, and told to stay away from Rihanna for the entire probation period.
Brown admits that although most of his fans have stood by him, he fears the general public would prefer to see him sent to prison for the attack.
He tells MTV, "(My fans) love me and support me. (But the public) don't want to see me do anything... they wanna see me kind of, basically in jail."
He also said it was "just anger" that pushed him into beating the singer black and blue.
And Brown admits he often questions how an argument between the pair escalated to such an extent.
In the interview with MTV, to be aired on Friday, he says: "My thoughts is like (sic), 'Why did it happen?' Like, 'What was I thinking? What is wrong with you?' That's what I'm thinking with myself. That's what my thoughts are, basically, now."
When quizzed about why he lashed out at his ex lover, Brown replies: "Just anger. Yeah, anger. Young people, we do before we think."
