When you have a question about your taxes, you may be interested in the services that the Internal Revenue Service offers. To avoid additional frustration, it's always wise to ask for assistance as early as you can. The closer you get to April 17th, the busier the phones will be. For tax forms, the toll-free number is 1-800-829-3676. For recorded tax information and automated refund information, the toll-free IRS number is 1-800-829-4477. For information about your federal taxes or for personal assistance, the toll-free number is 1-800-829-1040. They can help you resolve problems you may be having with your taxes. In addition, the IRS's Web site allows you to download forms and publications, read press releases, and review frequently Asked Questions. You log on to their site at www.irs.gov (w-w-w dot i-r-s dot g-o-v). If you are unable to call the IRS regarding your return, you can allow the IRS to discuss your 2006 tax return with a friend, family member, or any other person by checking the 'Yes' box in the 'third party designee' area.
