The Obama administration is warning that the Binghamton Regional Airport could face significant delays due to automatic spending cuts scheduled to take effect March 1st.

The Federal Aviation Administration posted a list on its website of 100 airports that would have their air traffic control towers shut down because of staffing cuts.  Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says the across the board reductions will require trimming $600 million this year from the FAA. LaHood says furloughs to air traffic controllers will also lead to reduced hours of service and long delays at airports.  The Ithaca airport is also on the list of possible tower shut downs. Airports in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany would lose overnight service.
