Tuesday at 4:00 pm, The Binghamton High School boy's basketball team will tip off in the Class AA State Regionals. But in order to advance they'll have to get by a team that's got some serious momentum working for them. Here's why: Sunday's Section 1 Class AA Championship game. New Rochelle vs. Mount Vernon.

2.9 left on the clock. Khalil Edney inbounded the ball. Mount Vernon gets it but instead of dribbling out the clock throws it up. Edney steals it back and launches it fifty-five feet for the game winning buzzer beater. Initially refs waved off the shot. Both teams celebrating. Complete Pandemonium. After a brief consultation without looking at the replay refs overturn their initial decision giving New Rochell the 61-60 win and the championship. Replay did in fact show that he got the shot off with .1 left on the clock. Cant make this stuff up. Khalil Edney and his Coach Rasaun Young appeared on ESPN's Sportscenter Monday.

"Let's bring in the man now who hit the shot that will live forever in New Rochelle sports lore. Khalil Edney and he is joined by his head coach, Rasaun Young. I'm sure you're still on cloud 9. Khalil let's start with you. What have the past 24 hours been like for you?"
Khalil says, "It's been exciting. It's been a long 24 hours. But I celebrated with my fellow teammates and coach so it's been a joyful moment."

The Binghamton Patriots will take on Khalil and New Rochelle tomorrow at Purchase College. Tip off is at 4:00 pm.
