Members of Binghamton City Council's Employees Committee have met to talk about residency requirements.
Discussion of requiring future city employees to live in Binghamton is in preliminary stages. Currently, about 45 percent of workers live outside of city limits. Eventually, if legislation is passed, current employees who live outside the city would be allowed to keep their jobs. The requirement would only apply to new hires.
