Sentencing in Veronica Taft Murder Case

From Broome County District Attorney’s Office:

On February 26, 2013 in Broome County Court, Veronica L. Taft (25) of Lisle, New York, was sentenced an indeterminate prison terms of twenty-five years to life in connection with her August 28, 2012 conviction after trial of Murder in the Second Degree for the December 30, 2010 beating death of her two and one-half year old son Lyric. She was also sentenced to a concurrent determinate term of twenty-five years and five years post-release supervision in connection with her conviction for Manslaughter in the First Degree and concurrent one year sentences for her conviction for three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The case was investigated by the Binghamton Police Department and Broome County District Attorney’s Office and prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Peter N. DeLucia and Joshua S. Shapiro.
