Subjects Arrested for Coin and Jewelry Residential Burglaries
(Kirkwood, NY – November 5, 2009) The New York State Police at Binghamton, NY, assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Division of Parole arrested seven subjects for their involvement in numerous residential burglaries involving the theft of collector’s coins and jewelry. The burglaries, which occurred throughout the month of October, 2009, involved residences located in Broome County, NY, Chenango County, NY, and Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, and involved the theft of over $20,000 dollars in collector’s coins and jewelry.
The following subjects were arrested for the indicated charges:
1. MARK A. MURRAY, of 51 Acre Place, Kirkwood, N.Y.
DOB: 08/23/90
Arrest date: 10/28/09
Charge: Burglary 2nd Degree.
Arraigned before Town of Colesville Justice Paul Powell and remanded to the Broome County jail without bail.
2. MATTHEW J. MURRAY, of 51 Acre Place, Kirkwood, N.Y.
DOB: 08/23/90
Arrest date: 10/28/09
Charge: Burglary 2nd Degree
Arraigned before Town of Colesville Justice Paul Powell and remanded to the Broome County jail without bail.
3. RICHARD J. BUCHERT, of 13 Mary’s Rd.,Windsor, N.Y.
DOB: 01/10/88
Arrest date: 10/28/09
Charge: Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree
Issued an Appearance Ticket for the Windsor Town Court and released upon his own recognizance.
4. TAYLOR J. WRIGHT, of 22 Robert’s St., Kirkwood, N.Y.
DOB: 09/12/91
Arrest date: 10/29/09
Charge: Burglary 2nd Degree
Arraigned before Town of Windsor Justice Frederick Stapleton and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
5. JERRY W. ARMONDI JR., of 105 Bourbon St., Norwich, N.Y.
DOB: 12/22/86
Arrest date: 10/29/09
Charges: Burglary 2nd, Violation of Parole
Arraigned before Town of Windsor Justice Frederick Stapleton and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
6. KEVIN J. MARKOFF, of 763 Trim St., Windsor, N.Y.
DOB: 05/25/91
Arrest date: 10/31/09
Charge: Burglary 2nd Degree
Arraigned before Town of Windsor Justice Frederick Stapleton and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
7. KENNETH R. DEGROAT, of 690 Trim St., Kirkwood, N.Y.
DOB: 07/19/90
Arrest date: 10/31/09
Charge: Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd
Arraigned before Town of Kirkwood Justice Ward Coe and released upon his own recognizance.
During the course of the investigation search warrants were executed in Kirkwood and Windsor, N.Y. which resulted in the recovery of some stolen coins, stolen jewelry and the seizure of approximately $3,900.00 US currency. Additional stolen coins and jewelry were recovered from various coin dealers and gold & silver dealers located in Broome County.
Additional charges are pending in Chenango County, N.Y., and the State of Pennsylvania.
