BSR is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Thursday morning, a ribbon cutting was held to honor the company. The roofing business has been in the Griffiths family for 5 generations. Back in 1913, Binghamton Slag Roofing opened its doors on Griswold Street in Binghamton. Eventually it moved to Water Street and then finally settled into its current location on Eldredge Street. The Griffiths also own another roofing company called Weathermaster Roofing, which specializes in the public sector roofing market. Combined, both companies employ about 100 people.

BSR President, Charles Griffiths Junior, says it's an honor to carry on the family business. "There are a lot of challenges for a multi-generational business to survivie in anything. What I have to do is just thank my father and grandfather in looking forward to not just having a business that took care of them, but they looked forward to establishing a business that could be a multi-generational business."

BSR has outgrown its current location and is looking for a larger facility.
