Work to replace two bridge decks over Route 17 in the Town of Sanford is getting underway.
The bridges carry Oquaga Lake Road and Gulf Summit Road over the highway. Construction on the Oquaga Lake Road bridge is expected to finish in May. The bridge will be closed to all traffic so a detour will be put in place. Work on Gulf Summit Road is slated to be done in the fall. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane during the replacement project. New York State is paying for the $2.3 million of upgrades.
