More than two dozen people have been arrested for stealing copper from the former IBM Country Club and the Greater Binghamton Health Center.
State Police say the burglaries occurred at the now vacant Heritage Country Club in the Town of Union and former Pysch Center buildings in Binghamton. According to police, investigators received complaints from officials at the Health Center campus and a tip from a citizen regarding a group that was stealing copper pipes and electrical wire from commercial buildings in Broome County. In all, 27 people have been arrested, with most of them charged with either burglary or trespassing. Troopers say 20 of those arrested were caught after investigators observed them entering buildings at the Psych Center.
