Just a reminder that today is election day.Across the area there are several big races.In the City of Binghamton the mayor's race is up for grabs and in Johnson City, voters will decide whether to dissolve the village and choose a mayor.The Broome County Clerk's race pits Repubican Rick Blythe against Gene Burns.Polls in New York are open from nine til nine.

A Western New York meat processor is recalling more than half a million pounds of ground beef believed to be contaminated with E coli bacteria.Federal health officials have linked the tainted beef to 2 deaths and 26 illnesses in the Northeast.Locally, the ground beef was sold at Price Chopper supermarkets with expiration dates between September 16th and October 5th.Consumers are encouraged to check their freezers and return the beef for a full refund.E coli can cause severe stomach cramps and diarrhea and can sometimes lead to kidney failure.Processor Fairbank Farms is located in Ashville, near Jamestown, and sells its beef to 8 grocery chains in 7 states.

New York State Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, has released a scathing audit of Maine-Endwell Central School District's auditing practices.DiNapoli says the district underestimated its fund balance by 6 point 7 million dollars, money that could have been used to lower taxes. The audit also found the district paid 37 thousand dollars in health insurance premiums for two retirees who were dead. In response, M-E says that it has made changes to its accounting practices, but it disagrees with the Comptroller about how much money it should reserve for tough financial times.

They're at it again to help CHOW.WILD 104's morning host Louie G and 99-1 The Whale's Big Wally are basically calling an RV home for the next week.It's at the Weis grocery store at 1290 Upper Front Street in the Town of Chenango. They're collecting non-perishable food items for CHOW to help feed the hungry.As an extra incentive, Louie G will D-J a free dance for the school that brings in the most donations. Louie G says, "We do it because we like to come out and be involved with the community. As long of a day as it is, it's really a lot of fun to see everyone come by and help out. Like I said, unfortunately the need is great."Louie G and Wally will be at the Town of Chenango Weis through next Monday.
