Good Morning, welcome this Newschannel 34 Daybreak Update.
I'm Colleen McCoy. Today is Friday December 5th.

25-year-old William Tomanek Junior of Binghamton was sentenced yesterday. He's going to state prison for 3 1/2 years. And then 18 months of court supervision. That's the punishment he accepted when he pleaded guilty in August, to attempted assault. In March, Tomanek shot Jesse Wright in the head and neck, during an argument in Wright's Conklin home.

Endicott police have released this sketch of the man who they say robbed the Nirchi's on Pine Street late yesterday afternoon. He is described as a white man, with a scruffy beard in his 20's. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. If you have any information you're asked to call Endicott police.

Remember, Honor, Teach-- That's what a Tioga County group that honors local veterans has set out to do, by laying holiday wreaths on their headstones. The group is called Project Homecoming, and has joined a national movement called "Wreaths Across America"-- started 17 years ago by a florist who layed wreaths at Arlington Cemetery.
Over the years the movement has grown-- last year volunteers put down more than 30 thousand wreaths all across the country. If you're interested in helping lay wreaths around Tioga County, you can meet at VFW in Owego on December 13th at noon.

New York officials say they've reached a settlement with Rite Aid over the sale of expired goods. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo sued after investigators bought expired goods in 22 percent of Rite Aid stores statewide. Rite Aid will pay a $1 million fine and up to $300,000 more if it fails to comply with the settlement over the next three years.

The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Event for the B-C-C Owego Campus. The college and Tioga County partnered to renovate space in the Tioga County Office Building into classrooms. The classroom space is located in the lounge, which is on the lower level of the building. Class has already been in session for the past two semesters. Interim President Daniel Hayes says the college is considering expanding to more locations in the future
