Planned Parenthood locally has a new name.
It's now Family Planning of South Central New York. The change was made so Family Planning wouldn't have to provide abortions at its facility in Binghamton, which it would have had to do if it stayed under the Planned Parenthood affiliation.
Ingrid Hisusian says the organization is still pro-choice and counsels clients on all options. She wants the community to know that the only thing that has changed about the agency is its name. Husisian says "We had been in our former name since 1940. But now we have a new name, but all the same great services, same locations, same wonderful staff, same everything, just a new name."
Family Planning has locations in Binghamton, Norwich, Sidney, Oneonta and Walton.
