There has been another arrest in what is the third homicide in the City of Binghamton this year.
25-year old Jamel Young is accused of stabbing to death 24 year-old Justin Soboleski just before midnight last night. Police and emergency personnel found Soboleski lying outside 198 Court Street, bleeding from 3 stab wounds, including a fatal one to the heart. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Wilson Hospital. Young was apprehended about an hour later a couple blocks away on Henry Street. Young is a tenant of the apartment building and Soboleski lived there with relatives until about a week ago.
Police Chief Joe Zikuski says the men knew each other. "As far as we know, there was no long-term feud between these two individuals. They've known each other. A dispute that escalated into a tragedy for both. One person ended his life and the other is probably going to spend a substantial time in state prison."
Zikuski says neither alcohol nor drugs were involved. The alleged murder weapon, a knife, was recovered. Young is charged with second degree murder.
