A Binghamton attorney is running for New York State Supreme Court Justice.
Gene Faughnan is a partner with the law firm Hinman, Howard and Kattell. He's been practicing law for the past 22 years. And, he chairs the firm's disability benefits practice group. Faughnan says supreme court justices preside over a variety of issues including contract disputes, personal injury cases and other civil matters. He says he believes his experience will help make him an effective justice. "I've been representing some of the most vulnerable in our community, disabled men, women and children. That's a lot of the time that I've spent in my practice is representing those individuals. That's part of the reason why I'm running actually is because I've gotten to see up close the good and the bad impact that the law can have for people and the very real life impact that it has on those individuals."
Faughnan also serves as a Broome County Elections Commissioner. He'll officially announce his candidacy tonight at Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union. Faughnan is a Republican.
