3 years after the devastating floods of 2006, some areas are still recovering.

Some of the most significant damage was done to streams and creeks whose beds were filled with debris, or their course significantly altered.

One such place that has now been corrected is the area of the Apalachin <<app-ah-lay-kin>>Creek about one mile upstream of the Susquehanna River.

The June and November 06 floods moved the stream bank 60 feet to the east, exposing a sewer line that served 600 homes.

One neighbor, Lisa Bloodnick, says she's relieved that the work is done.

Lisa Bloodnick says, "The creek here looks so much different from a couple weeks back. We would be standing in creek bed now with tree jams above our heads. They had a huge problem that was coming if this problem wasn't addressed. They did a great job."

State Senator Tom Libous helped secure some of the state money used by the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District to pay for the project.

Senator Tom Libous says, "In 2006, I was not only in the air, I was in a boat, I was on the ground, I shared with many of the officials here the devastation, the many folks who were out of their homes, lost their homes, lost so many personal possessions. We wanted to do something. I made a commitment and now we're showing that that commitment has been fulfilled."

Libous says other flood remediation projects within his district are still being developed.
