We turn our focus now to cyber attacks.

It's a topic that has recently gotten extensive media coverage nationally. US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand recently told us that attacks cost the US economy billions of dollars.  She says while there was bi-partisan support for a bill to address cyber attacks last year, it did not pass. She's hopeful that new legislation can be crafted and adopted.

Gillibrand says, "We have thousands of cyber attacks every single day on our infrastructure, on our critical infrastructure, and on our various agencies in the government. What we have to do is have a very thoughtful, but aggressive response in making sure our companies are protected."

Gillibrand says future legislation could require all companies to report to the government if they've been attacked. She says in some cases, businesses aren't even aware they've been attacked until the FBI alerts them. And, she wants protocols in place where countries can work together to arrest hackers. Gillibrand says cyber criminals can easily become cyber terrorists if they're paid enough.
