Good Shepherd Fairview in Binghamton celebrated the lives of some of its eldest residents with a centenarian party.
There are three women who are 100 years-old and one who is 102. Two residents are also 99 and will be turning the century mark later this year.
Irene Orr is one of them. Up until she was 80 years-old she made all of her own clothes because she was a talented seamstress. In 1939, she moved to Binghamton and worked at Ansco, GAF for many years. Orr says, "Just coming to Binghamton, leaving New York City, was interesting. I had two very tiny children, but Ansco was picking up a lot of people to make a bigger and bigger company."
She'll turn 100 on September 19th. Orr has two children, 8 grand children and one great-grand child.
