The Greater Binghamton Transportation Center is open for business.

Greyhound and Shortline/Coach are settling into their new home at the facility at the corner of Chenango and Henry streets.  There is still work going on so it's not considered the official opening yet.  Now the old Shortline building will be demolished for parking and sometime in September BC Transit will move into the center as well.

Kaitlynn Schultz is from Brackney, Pennsylvania.  She was part of the Rotary's exchange program to France.  Some of her friends from France came to visit her.  This afternoon they were leaving.  Before seeing them off, Kaitlynn gave us her impression of the new center.  "It's a lot better. The one before was a little crowded and it was really hot inside. This is the first time that I've seen the new one. It's beautiful inside. I think it will bring out a lot more people to come traveling and everything."

The new bus hub named for Congressman Maurice Hinchey cost about $14 million.  State and federal funds covered most of the cost.  The county had to pay about $3 million.
