Congressman Maurice Hinchey wants the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct a new study of the affects of hydraulic fracturing process.

Hinchey inserted the request into a bill funding the department.

The congressman says a 2004 study of the issue was biased and flawed.

He says the EPA needs to confirm that the chemicals used in fracking don't pose a threat to drinking water.
