About forty 2nd and 3rd graders from Binghamton's Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School got hands on lessons about the importance of exercising and eating right Tuesday.
The Junior League of Binghamton hosted its 7th annual Kids in the Kitchen event. Members showed the kids how to make healthy treats. Then the children got a chance to try them and bring some home. Student athletes from Binghamton University also exercised with the kids.
Becky Miller says, "Right now there's a lot of obesity in our country and we feel that starting early is a really a good way to get kids on the right track to having a healthy lifestyle."
The Junior League also gave each child a toy that they can play with outside.
