US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has introduced legislation that she says can help rebuild America's manufacturing base.

She announced her Made in America Manufacturing Act at Golden Artist Colors in New Berlin in Chenango County. If passed, the bill would create a federal funding source that regions across the nation can compete for in order to create low-interest revolving loan programs.  It would also help create job training programs.  The Made in America Act would encourage communities, including Chambers of Commerce, businesses, schools and governments, to work together to come up with creative ways to expand economic opportunities.

Kirsten Gillibrand says, "This is really almost a pilot program. It's a $200 million bill that would provide ten $20 million grants that would be awarded regionally. So, New York State, portions of it, would apply for the money and compete with other parts of the country and hopefully get awarded. I think they can compete with anywhere in the country."

Gillibrand says she'll be working to strengthen bi-partisan support for the bill. This week, we'll take a closer look at the work that goes on Golden Artist Colors. The company makes paints that are used by professional artists all over the world.
