The Village of New Berlin is getting a face lift with the help of Commerce Chenango.

The New Berlin Main Street Grant is offering $250,000 for use in renovation projects that will have a positive impact on the village's downtown. One main focus is preserving historic sites. The program is part of an on going effort to grow tourism and attract new businesses to Chenango County.

Director of Economic Development Jennifer Tavares says the village serves as a gateway to the county, especially for visitors to the nearby Chobani plant. "The goal of it would be that when you drive through a small village like the Village of New Berlin you will see a welcoming community, it will look revitalized, most of the properties will be attractive."

Eligible properties include those located on North and South Main Street as well as Genesee and West Streets. For more information or to apply visit ChenangoNY.org/EcoDev.
