The City of Binghamton has a new Parks and Recreation Director.
He is Bill Barber. A familiar name for some people and someone who has extensive background in parks management. He served in top positions in the Broome County Parks Department under three county executives.
Barber says the City Parks will be looking to improve recreation areas while containing costs. "We're going to put a huge emphasis this spring on trying to upgrade the facilities, making them look better, removing safety issues. Something as simple as putting a coat of paint on the equipment, making sure that all the areas have grass and that there are no bare areas and the trees are trimmed."
