The federal government has come through with funding to keep the stream gauges on in our area.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has committed about $215,000 for the gauges, which were in danger of being shut down due to a lack of funding. The gauges along rivers help the National Weather Service do flood forecasting and issue warnings. Gauges will remain in place at locations including Binghamton, Vestal, Owego and Windsor along the Susquehanna River. And, in Greene, Norwich, Oxford and Sherburne along the Chenango River.
