A BCC student is receiving help from the New York State Sheriff's Association is pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Broome County Sheriff Dave Harder and BCC Executive Vice President Francis Battisti presented Vincent Mbera with a $250 scholarship on Monday. It will help him pursue his studies in the Department of Criminal Justice at BCC. Mbera, who is originally from the Republic of Congo, is a member of the Coast Guard in addition to being a student. He thanked the school for selecting him.
Vincent says, "Their support means that my dream to join the men and women working in criminal justice is possible."
Mbera was joined by his wife and children at Monday's ceremony.
