Country music fans took a polar bear plunge into frigid waters Wednesday afternoon to win tickets to an upcoming music festival.
It happened at 21st Century Pools and Spas on the Vestal Parkway. The giveaway, to pre-qualified contestants, was hosted by the radio station, 98.1 The Hawk. The tickets are for the Taste of Country Music festival at Hunter Mountain from June 13th to 15th, which will feature musicians Lady Antebellum, Willie Nelson, and Montgomery Gentry. Wednesday's plunge coincided with International Polar Bear Day which was the inspiration for the event.
Glenn Pitcher says, "We were talking about, how can we institute a special day, we came up with polar bear day, to give away some tickets? Everyone's heard of the polar bear plunge and so its the end of February so what a great way. People always say I'll do anything for tickets to the Taste of Country Music Festival and today they're going to prove it."
