State trooper killed in head-on crash

Catskill, N.Y. (AP) - A state trooper has been killed in a head-on collision in the Hudson Valley.

Lt. Brian Shortall of the state police barracks in Middletown says an on-duty trooper was killed Wednesday afternoon.

Broadcast reports in Albany say the accident happened around 2:40 p.m. in the area of Route 32 and Cairo Junction Road in Catskill, about 35 miles south of Albany.

No other details were immediately available.
