Recap: Charlotte vs. Duquesne
Greenville, NC (Sports Network) - B.J. Monteiro poured in 21 points and Eric Evans added 17 in Duquesne's 88-77 win over Charlotte at Halton Arena.
T.J. McConnell and Sean Johnson both scored 14 for the Dukes (16-13, 7-8 A-10), who snapped a three-game skid by capitalizing on their transition game. Duquesne outscored the 49ers, 28-0, in fast break points. McConnell had five steals and Monteiro four thefts.
DeMario Mayfield scored 19 for Charlotte (13-15, 5-10), which lost for the fourth time in five games. Chris Braswell totaled 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jamar Briscoe scored 15, one more than teammate Javarris Barnett.
Charlotte netted the game's first seven points, but the Dukes immediately rallied with a 13-1 surge. Duquesne led by as many as 10 in the opening half before settling for a 42-36 edge at the intermission.
The 49ers never got closer than four in the second half and lost despite making 13-of-25 shots in the final 20 minutes.
Duquesne made 59.3 percent of its shots on the night, including going 16-of-25 in the second half.Game Notes
