Recap: VA Commonwealth vs. George Mason
Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Bradford Burgess scored a career-high 31 points in his final regular season game for Virginia Commonwealth as the Rams downed the George Mason Patriots 89-77 in a key Colonial Athletic Association finale at the Siegel Center.
Juvonte Reddic posted an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double and Troy Daniels finished with 17 points for VCU (15-6, 15-3 CAA) which has won three straight and locked up the No. 2 seed in this weeks conference tournament with the victory.
Ryan Pearson poured in 24 points and brought down nine rebounds to pace George Mason (23-8, 14-4) which also got 11 from Sherrod Wright and 10 from Mike Morrison.
Both teams shot well in the first half with VCU connecting on 48.4 percent of its shots and George Mason at a superior 52.2 percent. Despite this the Rams held a dominant 43-27 lead at halftime by outscoring the Patriots 24-3 from three point range.
In the second half the Rams slowed to just 31.8 percent but turned in a 29-for-39 performance from the free throw line in the final period to capture the win.
Despite the loss George Mason took the edge in rebounding by a 36-27 margin.Game Notes
