Recap: Utah vs. Stanford

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Chris Hines finished with 19 points and seven rebounds as the Utah Utes picked up a 58-57 victory over the Stanford Cardinal in a Pac-12 Conference battle at the Huntsman Center.

Jason Washburn scored 17 points and blocked six shots as Utah (6-22, 3-13 Pac-12) snapped its eight-game losing streak. Dijon Farr added 12 points in the winning effort.

Chasson Randle paced Stanford (19-10, 9-8) with 19 points. Josh Owens and Anthony Brown netted 11 points each as the Cardinal lost for the second time in three games.

The Utes held a 34-33 advantage at halftime after they shot 40 percent from the floor and converted 14-of-16 at the charity stripe in the opening period. Stanford made 44.8 percent of its field goals in the first half.

Utah made nine of its 18 field goal attempts in low-scoring second half, while the Cardinal shot 28.6 percent from the floor. Dwight Powell gave Stanford a 56-55 lead with 41 seconds left to play as he scored on an offensive rebound tip-in. Hines drilled a clutch three-pointer to put Utah back up, 58-56. Owens made one of two from the foul line to make it a one-point game once again, and Washburn missed the front end of a one-and-one which gave Stanford one last chance. Randle attempted a three-pointer with a second left, but it was unsuccessful.

Stanford failed to pull out the victory despite attempting 19 more field goals and holding a slight 33-30 edge in the rebounding battle.
