Recap: Northwestern St vs. Campbell
Natchitoches, LA (Sports Network) - Shamir Davis scored a game-high 25 points, leading the Northwestern State Demons to a 100-86 win over the Campbell Fighting Camels as part of BracketBusters weekend at Prather Coliseum.
Also scoring in double figures for the hosts was William Mosley who registered a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, adding four blocked shots as the team snapped a three-game slide. Louis Ellis delivered 15 points and Gary Stewart 13 off the bench as well.
The Fighting Camels (17-12) were paced by Eric Griffin who registered a double-double of his own with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, but he shot just 11-of-21 at the free-throw line as the squad had a two-game win streak brought to an end. Darren White and Andrew Ryan both posted 15 points and Lorne Merthie 14 as he connected on 4-of-12 behind the three-point line.
Northwestern State scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked back, moving out to a 42-32 lead at the break thanks to 11-of-16 shooting at the free-throw line.
In the second half the Demons converted a sizzling 69.6 percent from the field in order to secure the double-digit win.
Campbell, which held a 47-39 rebounding advantage, hurt itself with 19 turnovers and just 27-of-40 shooting at the charity stripe. The Demons left the door open as they converted only 33-of-53 at the line.
